Although the rules of Texas Hold'em are the same from tournament play and cash game play, there are huge differences in how the game is actually played. A player could be an amazing tournament player and not be very good at playing at cash games and vice versa. It is important to learn how to modify your game and approach depending on whether you are sitting at a cash table or if you are in a large tournament.
Cash games tend to have a much slower pace then tournaments due to the blinds staying set and not raising like they do in tournaments. Blinds are raised in tournament play to weed out players faster than it would if there were no blind increases. A huge benefit that players enjoy about cash games is the ability to rebuy after going out. There is no worry about playing for hours just to get knocked out just before the prize pool.
Now that you have chosen to play at cash games, here is what you need to do. You may be used to having to get involved in a lot of hands while playing in tournaments because the blinds jumping, but in cash games, it is time to become a very patient player. There are no worries of the blinds raising on you so you have much more time to play and more hands that you are going to see.
In cash game play, you may want to limit your self to only playing top 10 hands, these being AA, KK, QQ, JJ, 1010, 99, AK, AQ, AJ, KQ. Limit your self to these hands and you will have more confidence when you enter the hand and have a better chance of taking down the pot. Many times you are not going to see these cards flooding one after another so it is important to stay patient and just wait back. Once the table views you as being a tight player, you can loosen up once in a while for a bluff or two. One final rule is to never commit your self to a pot solely because you know you can rebuy if you lose the hand.
