Lil Wayne Got Money

Coming straight outta New Orleans, over the last few years, rapper Lil’ Wayne has positioned himself as one of the best lyrical masters within the new generation of Hip-Hop MCs. Representing the city of New Orleans and Cash Money Records, Lil’ Wayne shares the spotlight with his mentor and father figure, Baby, on their album, “Like Father, Like Son”.

“Yeah, when I was 16 I bought my first Mercedes Benz...”

Stuntin’ Like My Daddy is the first release from the album where the young, brash MC rhymes along with his mentor, demonstrating the swagger Hip-Hop fans have come to love. The chorus, though very simplistic and repetitive, pays tribute to Baby, co-founder of Cash Money Records who has served as a father figure to Lil’ Wayne ever since his father died when he was young.

“And I be stuntin like my daddy, stuntin like my daddy
Stuntin like my daddy, I be stuntin like my daddy
I'm the, young stunna
Stuntin like my daddy”

How can you apply Lil Wayne’s “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy” to your life?

Well, to “stunt”, means to be flashy, to live a fast and luxurious lifestyle. In the chorus, Lil’ Wayne refers to himself as a “young stunna”; one who lives the high life and enjoys every minute of it. No matter whom we are or where we are, we all want to live a good life. Throughout the song both Lil’ Wayne and Baby rap about the “hustling” (or hard work) that it took to stunt (or live a good life), and the hustling that it takes to maintain the life of a “stunna”.

If you want to “stunt” and live the good life, then like Lil’ Wayne does, follow the example of somebody who is successful and living the kind of life that you want to live. It may be a parent, an older sibling, a local businessperson, etc. At some point in life, everybody should have a mentor, someone who can be a role model and give advice and guidance when you need it most. If you take heed to excellent, solid advice and hustle hard, you’ll accomplish your goals, and start living the high life with Lil’ Wayne and the rest of the “stunnas”.
