Federal Trade Commission

It is amazing that our federal agencies, which are supposed to protect the American people from fraud, identity theft and other consumer deceptive trade practices cannot even protect themselves. Recently the Federal Trade Commission lost to computers, which had personal information on them in Scottsdale, Arizona.

This is ironic because the Federal Trade Commission is supposed to protect people from identity theft and they cannot even protect their own information. The Federal Trade Commission routinely finds companies millions of dollars due to breaches in security and yet they cannot protect themselves. How can we trust in agency, which cannot even protect itself?

There is a company, which allows people to e-mail personal checks and some fraudsters have figured out a way to trick the system and send out personal checks on other peoples bank accounts. This obvious fraud has been made even worse; the fraudsters has sent out checks on the Federal Trade Commission's bank accounts.

It appears the Federal Trade Commission cannot even protect its own bank accounts, its own data and one has to ask the question how on earth are they supposed to protect the American people and the American consumer? Perhaps we should close the Federal Trade Commission because of its inability to protect the consumer or itself. We should alleviate the taxpayer from footing the bill. Please consider this in 2006.
